Guidelines

Regional artists who do not already have a web presence may have a single web page posted on this site for a nominal fee, subject to the following:

The work is judged to be fine art, produced by artists living in Clallam County or East Jefferson County. Crafts, manufactured work, other items presented primarily for sale do not qualify.

First priority will be given to artists who volunteer their time in support of non-profit art organizations such as Northwind Arts Alliance, Sequim Arts or Clallam Art League.

Second priority will go to artists who are members of regional cooperative galleries: Blue Whole, Waterfront Art Gallery, etc.

Fine artists who already have a web presence should send their link to the webmaster for inclusion on the "artists" page.

Business who provide products or services to artists and art organizations are also welcome to submit web links for consideration on the arts links page.

Cost: If you are a member of Sequim Arts, Clallam Art League or Northwind, you may e mail your artist statement and up to 6 electronic images for a one time fee of $25, payable to the respective art organization. If you are a member of the Blue Whole Gallery the charges are included in your gallery membership fees.

Websites hosted here are located to produce the shortest possible domain name. For example, Viva Jones' address is: www.olympicartists.org/jones.htm. That's short enough to just about fit on a business card.

If you own your domain (www.MeArtist.com) and would like help pointing it to this web page, let me know. Viva had already owned www.VivaJones.com, so we also pointed that address at her page hosted here. Note that her page is just in draft form, and should look a lot better when we get more information in, and the artist page templates are in place.

If you would like to purchase a domain name, and currently volunteer with any of the arts organizations, let me know. The cost is roughly $10 per year per domain name. I recommend GoDaddy.com for domain purchase. When you buy your domain, you MUST remember your username, password, and the e mail address you used.

The words for your web page must be submitted electronically, either in the body of an e mail, or in an attached Microsoft Word file. Straight, unformatted (dull and boring) text is best. A scanned page of text does NOT constitute "electronic" transfer, since we just don't have time to convert a "picture" of text into something that can be edited easily.

The photos of your art should be of good quality, with all cropping and color adjustments complete. Please send these files as an e mail attachment or on a CD as a .jpg, .tif, or .psd (photoshop file) format ONLY. Do NOT embed them in a Microsoft Word document. Be aware that MS Word and some e mail programs have been set to compress files automatically, making the quality marginal. If you're not an expert in preparing images from the web, plan on sending me image file sizes of 100k to 500k and I will size them down for you.

When you have CHANGES to your page, be VERY EXPLICIT. It's helpful to have an e mail that says: "on page XXX where it now says YYY replace it with ZZZ".

If your only source of images is from a print or slide, these can be scanned at local businesses.

If you're really stuck and have run out of buddies who know this stuff, you can call and whimper. I'm a sucker for yellow lab puppies, and a scritch or two will compensate either one of us.
