Artist's Statement

What compels me to paint is the desire to communicate a unique experience, and my enjoyment of light, color and nature. The artwork may or may not be literal, but I try to show the essence of what caught my attention. In paintings that feature trees, for example, my goal is to highlight each tree's individuality and form.

History

Marian Morris has painted for years, but just began showing and offering her work for sale in the Spring of 2001. Since then, her work has been in several juried shows and has won awards. Her choice of medium depends on the subject matter and the size of the image. Currently, she works in acrylics, oils, and intaglio techniques.
